Join us for a fun, learning-filled morning of brain-powered activities for your child as you learn from experts in the field of gifted education and parenting gifted children. It is our mission to be a resource to the gifted education community by providing tools, ideas and activities to support parents, educators, and other professionals who work with gifted children in the greater Philadelphia region.
While your Pre-K through grade 8 children will engage with educators on a variety of activities, here are a few of the speakers we have planned for this exciting morning who look forward to answering questions and helping you navigate the joys of parenting and working with gifted children:
Dr. Brian Housand is a consultant and advocate for gifted children. He earned a Ph.D. in Educational Psychology at the University of Connecticut’s National Research Center on the Gifted and Talented with an emphasis in both gifted education and instructional technology. Dr. Housand is one of the most creative and exciting advocates for gifted children and gifted education.
Carolyn K is Founder and Director of Hoagies’ Gifted Education Page and Hoagies’ Kids and Teens Page. She serves on the Board of Directors for SENG (Supporting Emotional Needs of the Gifted) and will be sharing 3 Ways to Up Your Parenting Game.
Jill Williford Wurman is the Director of Research at The Grayson School and the author of our most popular blog posts, sharing the latest research and resources for gifted parents and educators. She will present Wired 2.0, and discuss the use and impact of technology on our children.
Students will be placed in age, ability and passion groupings for conducting experiments, performing improv, solving complex math problems, creating graphic novels, and immersing themselves in a history simulation from our own Grayson teachers in addition to Dr. Janine Firmender, Assistant Professor at St. Joseph’s University and Maria Selke, gifted resource teacher in the West Chester Area School District.
