Gifted Education Speaker Event: Being Gifted in the Age of Social Media

IMG_0572We are very excited to have C. Matthew Fugate, Ph.D. as our featured speaker for this event1  Dr. Fugate received his doctorate in Gifted, Talented and Creative Studies from Purdue University and will be leading a discussion on Being Gifted in the Age of Social Media.

Dr. Fugate will cover topics including:

  • data on gifted students concerning their use of, and feelings toward technology in education, communication, and social media

  • the potential effects of social media on the intellectual, emotional, and identity development of gifted students

  • being connected while also having a sense of isolation and loneliness

  • social media platforms as an opportunity for self-expression

It is our mission to be a resource to the gifted community in the greater Philadelphia region.  Our Free Gifted Education Speaker Events feature prominent researchers, educators, authors, and leaders in the field. We invite educators, home schoolers, parents, behavioral health professionals and anyone interested to participate in these informative and interactive discussions.
