We believe that, given the opportunity, our students are capable of greatness: absorbing complex material, using a broad knowledge base in new ways to make novel connections, asking interesting questions and finding their own way to the answers. At the same time, we want to make sure that they have a solid and comprehensive foundation from which to explore.
We intend to use research-based and time-tested curricula as building blocks for student learning. These materials will be supplemented with related enrichment opportunities to ensure that students are constantly engaged with challenging content. Curriculum will be used as jumping-off points for teachers and students to take the knowledge they acquire to make interdisciplinary connections, to provide the basis for independently-conceived projects, and to support students’ understanding of context and critical thinking skills on a large and small scale.
