Mary Lyon is joining us this year as a Visual Arts leave replacement teacher. Ms. Lyon brings wonder and curiosity to her work, cultivating a classroom where students learn that failure is a necessary step on the road to success and understanding. Her experience ranges from teaching kindergarten to college and includes theatre work overseas, most recently in Ireland.
Ms. Lyon holds a master’s degree in Theatre Arts from Villanova University and a B.A. in Theatre and Education from Allegheny University. In her work with all grade levels of students, Ms. Lyon believes in inspiring personal exploration in her students to better cultivate their active young minds. She enjoys creating lessons that connect to other classes and incorporate peer-to-peer collaboration.
In addition to acting and directing, Ms. Lyon enjoys crocheting, ballroom dancing, and coding. She also loves being behind the scenes and has served as a props manager, lead technician, and assistant master electrician.
