Lower School Teacher

Are you passionate about kindling the spark in curious young minds? Are you inspired by the chance to be an influential member of an innovative educational community?
Our fast-growing school is looking for individuals who excel at flexible and creative thinking; who see themselves as learners rather than lecturers; who have excellent content mastery as well as solid teaching experience; who are enthusiastic, highly motivated, creative, and eager to join a community that is passionate about supporting gifted children.
You will be expected to provide core instruction to elementary students while fostering an effective, engaged, student-centered learning environment. Opportunities for growth and leadership are significant as the school continues to expand.

YOU MUST HAVE:

  • Experience in elementary or early childhood education.
    A Pennsylvania teaching certificate or private academic certification (may be in process; we will help qualified candidates obtain certification).
    Up-to-date (less than 1 year old) clearances prior to beginning work, including Federal Criminal History, PA State Criminal Record Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance, Mandated Reporter training, TB test, Act 168, and any additional required clearances.
    An appreciation of both the intellectual and the social-emotional needs of gifted children.
    A willingness to differentiate for a variety of learners.
    The ability to communicate clearly in both written and spoken communication.

IT WOULD BE AWESOME IF YOU HAVE:

  • An advanced degree in education or related field.
  • Experience working with gifted children.
  • Experience with Positive Behavioral Supports and Interventions.
  • A joyful attitude toward  discussing the meaning of life, the universe, and everything with children.

Building Substitute

As a building substitute at The Grayson School, you will be expected to provide instruction for small classes of elementary students learning everything from addition to Algebra, and in general lower school classroom environments in an effective, engaged, student-centered learning environment. Opportunities for growth, professional development, and full-time faculty positions are significant as the school continues to expand.

YOU MUST HAVE:

  • Experience in elementary education;
  • A Pennsylvania teaching certificate or private academic certification;
  • Up-to-date (less than 1 year old) clearances before beginning work, including Federal Criminal History, PA State Criminal Record Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance, Mandated Reporter training, TB test, Act 168, and any additional required clearances;
  • The ability to clearly articulate evaluations and opportunities for our students in both written and spoken communication.
