Advanced Humanities (start date: August 2021)

Are you passionate about sharing your love of the humanities with intellectually curious students? Are you inspired by the chance to be an influential member of an innovative educational community?

We are looking for individuals who excel at flexible and creative thinking; who see themselves as learners rather than lecturers; who have excellent content mastery as well as solid teaching experience; who are enthusiastic, highly motivated, committed, and eager to join a community that is passionate about supporting gifted children.

You will be expected to teach classes in grades 8-12 while fostering an effective, engaged, student-centered learning environment. Opportunities for growth, professional development, and leadership are significant as the school continues to expand.

YOU MUST HAVE:

  • A Masters or Ph.D. in English Literature or a related field in the humanities.
  • Experience working with diverse populations and teaching a culturally responsive curriculum.
  • A Pennsylvania teaching certificate or private academic certification (may be in process; we will help qualified candidates obtain certification).
  • Up-to-date (less than 1 year old) clearances prior to beginning work, including Federal Criminal History, PA State Criminal Record Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance, Mandated Reporter training, TB test, Act 168, and any additional required clearances.
  • An appreciation of both the intellectual and the social-emotional needs of gifted children.
  • The ability to clearly articulate evaluations and opportunities for our students and school in both written and spoken communication.

IT WOULD BE AWESOME IF:

  • Experience in elementary or early childhood education.
  • A Pennsylvania teaching certificate or private academic certification (may be in process; we will help qualified candidates obtain certification).
  • Up-to-date (less than 1 year old) clearances prior to beginning work, including Federal Criminal History, PA State
  • Criminal Record Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance, Mandated Reporter training, TB test, Act 168, and any additional required clearances.
  • An appreciation of both the intellectual and the social-emotional needs of gifted children.
  • A willingness to differentiate for a variety of learners.
  • The ability to communicate clearly in both written and spoken communication.

  • Experience with Positive Behavioral Supports and Interventions.

Spanish Teacher

The Grayson School is looking for a part-time Spanish teacher to join our faculty in January, 2020! This is a unique opportunity to become a part of the first school specifically designed to meet the needs of gifted students in Pennsylvania. You will be expected to teach small beginner and intermediate Spanish classes of no more than 8 students while fostering an effective, engaged, student-centered learning environment. Opportunities for growth and leadership are significant as the school continues to expand in the coming years.

YOU MUST HAVE:

  • Mastery of the Spanish language and world language education.
  • A Pennsylvania teaching certificate or private academic certification (may be in process; we will help qualified candidates obtain certification).
  • Up-to-date (less than 1 year old) clearances prior to beginning work, including Federal Criminal History, PA State Criminal Record Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance, Mandated Reporter training, TB test, Act 168, and any additional required clearances.

Office Manager (full-time or part-time)

You will be expected to conduct key business functions with a focus on financial processes, bookkeeping responsibility, human resources, and records management. The start date for this position is flexible, from now until August 2020. This full-time position could also be filled by two part-time candidates with more specialized experience in either financial processes or human resources. YOU MUST HAVE:

  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
  • A detail-oriented approach; strong organizational skills.
  • A self-starting attitude with a high comfort level in both highlighting opportunities for growth and providing potential solutions.
  • Excellent technological skills with competency in both Microsoft Office and the Google Suite.
  • Fluency with QuickBooks and bookkeeping practices.

IT WOULD BE AWESOME IF:
